What are 4 types of teeth?

4 types of teeth

The four types of teeth found in humans are

Incisors

Incisors are the sharp, chisel-shaped teeth located at the front of the mouth. There are a total of eight incisors in an adult human mouth, four on the top and four on the bottom. They are used for biting into food and cutting it into smaller pieces.

Canines

Canines, also known as cuspids or eyeteeth, are the pointy, cone-shaped teeth located on either side of the incisors. There are four canines in the mouth, two on the top and two on the bottom. Canines are used for tearing and grasping food.

Premolars

Premolars, also called bicuspids, are located behind the canines. There are eight premolars in an adult mouth, four on the top and four on the bottom. Premolars have a flat surface with two cusps and are involved in grinding and crushing food.

Molars

Molars are the largest and strongest teeth located at the back of the mouth. There are a total of twelve molars in an adult human mouth, six on the top and six on the bottom. Molars have a broad, flat surface with multiple cusps, making them well-suited for grinding and chewing food.

It's worth noting that some people may have additional teeth, such as wisdom teeth, which are a third set of molars that typically erupt in the late teens or early twenties. However, not everyone develops wisdom teeth, and in some cases, they may need to be extracted due to complications.
